Can beta hcg injections during pregnancy lead to miscarriage? I read that there are side effects of hcg shots which include miscarriage. Is it true? If so, let me know why does it occur?

No, on the contrary hcg injections can save you from having a miscarriage. Where ever you read that hcg shots can lead to miscarriage is bogus. In fact, there are many posts and clinical studies that will make you realise that miscarriage can be treated using hCG injections.

hCG hormone is formed at the placenta when you get pregnant. It boosts the hormone production such as progesterone that promises proper development of the placenta during pregnancy. When you take hCG injections during pregnancy, it prevents miscarriages especially in women who had miscarriages in the past. Based on the cases, your health practitioner might recommend taking hCG during first trimester of pregnancy and at times second trimester as well.

hCG helps in nourishment of the fertilized egg after it attaches to the uterine wall and as the embryo grows the amount of hCG secretion also increases.
