Why does hcg drops cost so much?

I recently stumbled upon an information that reveals the following about HCG trade.

Compounding Pharmacies buy “Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API)” from manufacturers or wholesalers at cheap price. What’s surprising is that some of these companies are well-known USA companies such as Dow Chemical. Others are from China and India. I looked at the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) catalog of 2011 where it is said that a pharmacy can buy raw hcg powder at 10,000,000 IU of hCG powder for $4,000.00. This amounts to $2.00 per 5,000 IU vial.

So, if hCG only costs $2, why is the doctor selling it for huge amount of $500 – $1,000 per cycle?

The pharmacy charges more than $2. A US-based compounding pharmacy charges around $150 for two 5000iu vials PLUS supplies. Oh yes, the doctor too reaps a huge profit while charging his patients with consultation charges, charges for shots, and so on.

Also, keep in mind that you are paying for the Quality Control, researching, testing etc that is done by the manufacturing company/pharmacy. So, it’s just not the powder but everything else that goes into preparing it and keeping it safe and potent till delivered to the customers.
